11:00 – 14:00  Study visit – Port of Gdansk

                                      Study visit to the port of Gdansk. Students will learn how the work in the port looks like and what are the development plans and challenges related to environmental issues. Special accent will be put on waste management.

14:00 – 14:45  LUNCH

15:00 – 15:45  Division into teams

                                      Creating names for teams, logos /division into 7 groups/                               

15:45 – 17:15  Introduction to waste management – Workshop “Waste reduction as a top priority of waste management”

An introduction to the concept of “zero waste”.

                                      Is waste a problem?

                                      – how much waste do we produce? what are the main reasons?

                                      – problems and threats related to waste (in the context of landfills, incinerators and waste which gets into the environment)

                                      – plastic pollution crisis

                                      Waste management

                                      – waste management as a multi-disciplinary sector / various industries involved

                                      – EU directives related to waste

                                      – EU waste management hierarchy

                                      – waste and circular economy

                                      Zero waste

                                      – definition of zero waste

                                      – the 5R rules (refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, rot)

                                      – application of the zero waste rules at the level of an individual, a company, a city

17:15 – 18:45  Design Thinking – workshop

Introduction to the method. Reminder of the steps in the design thinking process:

                                      1)Empathy

                                      2)Problem definition (needs assessment)

                                      3)Generating ideas

                                      4)Building prototypes (prototyping)

                                      5)Testing

19:00 – 20:00 Introduction to waste management – watching “Bag It” movie and DINER

 

8th October

9:00 – 12:00 Exhibition REENERGY in Hevelianum Center

                                         Participants will get to know the second life of waste, look at the pollution of our planet from the perspective of space. They will also experience an ecological journey through the city.

12:00 – 13:30 Presentation of companies and problems – a selection of problems to be worked out by teams

Innokrea presentation – zero waste application

                                     Tasks will be prepared by:

                                      1) Port of Gdansk

                                     2) City Hall of Gdańsk

                                     3) Gdańsk Water and Sewage Infrastructure

                                     4) Polish Space Agency

15:00 – 19:00  Working on challenges from companies with the rules of Design Thinking
